Friday Follies

Painting by numbers

I like doing crosswords and puzzles and I came across a "one for the kids" at the end of a puzzle magazine. Well, I'm a big kid at heart but couldn't be bothered to see if I had crayons or felt-tips to fill it in by by hand, so, as I felt a bit bleh last night and didn't feel up to doing anything useful, I scanned it into the computer and started colouring it in last night while watching American Beauty on the telly.

Well, an interesting concept was expressed in that film which really resonated with me because it's an idea I've had for as long as I can remember.

I go to the Sussex Eye Hospital from time to time to have checks on my squint. They get lots of child patients so the place has lots of toys. This is my favourite:

He reminds me of Dr. Tweety and Maximilian. I always give him a cuddle if I'm seen in the room where he lives and one day I dropped him. Quite unthinkingly I said, "Oh, sorry!" as I picked him up and stroked off any dust which might have got in his furs. "Don't be so silly", said Pinky, rather irritably, "It's an inanimate object!"

The idea referred to in the film American Beauty is that life permeates everything in some form or other, even "inanimate" objects. It's not something I've mentioned to many people as I think they might call those people in the white coats to come and take me away. However, the only reader of this blog who knows my address is Pinky (as far as I know) and he already knows I'm bonkers, so hopefully I'm not in too much danger of finding myself in a straight jacket, lol!

In other news, I'm sorry I just don't seem to be able to visit everyone regularly. I think it's coz I love you all and there are so many! I now have 224 feeds in my Blogroll and am adding all the time, so with the best will in the world I can't get round evfurryone every day. Wish I could:(

In further other news, I'm amazed to find it's my first blogoversary on Saturday. It seems like only a couple of months ago when I started this blog! Time goes so fast it's frightening!

In other further other news, I'm going to the Neurology Department on Sunday (yes, Sunday would you believe!) to see if they can find out what the blobs in my brain are, so please keep your paws crossed for me!

I hope you all have a fab weekend:)

We wonder if your brain blobs have anything to do with you eye problems. In any case, we sure hope all goes well with the neurologist. They have the bedside manor of an annoyed cat, so you should feel right at home!

We firmly believe inanimate objects are living. In fact, we give Gemini a stuffed Siamese to attack so she doesn't attack me...

well as someone that "tickles" her computer and named her "doris" and her cell phone "grace" i wouldn't know anything about treating inanimate objects like they are real, now would i? ha ha ha

hope everything is okay with you honey. trim your reads, that's too many and you will stop enjoying it. i keep mine to less than a hundred.

Nope, no white coats today... cause the inanimate objects really are "animate" when it comes to feelings! We're happy you gave him the dust-off & cuddle... best of luck with the neurologist; maybe the brain blobs can be "dusted off" too and all will be fine with your world!!!
Take care.

Thanks for letting us know about Pixie. We haven't been around much lately as we don't have the internet at home, hence we don't get much news.

Hope all went well at the neurologist's. I am keeping my paws crossed for you.

Bean has bright objects in her brain, although I've not known this to make her particularly bright. She also apologizes to inanimate objects.

Your colour by numbers is wonderful.

Happy Blogaversary!
I still give my stuffed animals a cuddle sometimes. I think it just means you have a caring tenderhearted nature.
I am still in disbelief over Pixie. I thought she was holding her own quite well. I'm so tired of saying goodbye...
I hope all is well with you. It seems that doctors are never in a hurry to tell you anything! sigh...
Keep us posted and take care.
