The Hanging (and Indoor) Gardens of Hove

The damp summer has given rise to some interesting horticultural phenomena chez Black Cat.

The Hanging Garden

In my kitchen...

The Indoor Garden

What?????!!!

Please don't notice the dirty lino. (It is dirty but not as dirty as it looks. The lino is very old, stained and scuffed. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it, hahaha!)

Have a peaceful Monday evfurrybody:)

I Think I Hugged a Stranger!

Among the comments on my last post "Why Does my Special Friend Bully me..." was the following:
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Just give him a big hug and say thank you for caring and worrying about me.

I thought it was Pinky because he comments as "Anonymous" as he hasn't got a blog. Well actually he has, on MySpace, but there's only one post on it because... never mind, I digress. So anyhoo, I replied as follows:
Blogger Black Cat said...

Pin... erm, I mean A Lonely Mouse, I {{{HUG}}} you and am glad that you care:) xxx

At about 10 or 10:30 last night (Saturday) he rang me to say he'd just read my blog and hadn't meant to bully me, it was just that he cares about me and thinks it's not good for me to be such a night owl. I told him about the comment and he said it was the sort of thing he would have said if he'd had time to leave a comment (he's busy decorating at the moment) but it wasn't him!!! Oops!

Anyway, whoever it was, he probably deserves a hug! I say "he" but it could of course be a she, but I feel somehow that it is a he!

Have a super Sunday evfurrybuddy:)

Awards on Wednesday

Well, I'm posting them on Wednesday anyway!

I was proud to be on Cap'n Jack, Dante and Fagin's great and seaworthy pirate ship the Black Furrball as a crew member on Meow Like a Pirate Day. We had a wonderful time and they laid on a great feast and lots of grog! We got so much treasure that the Cap'n kindly let us fill our own treasure chests!

I got the Brillante Award from Moe and Mindy of Team Tabby and the I Love Your Cats Award, also from Moe and Mindy and from Omer, who writes a wonderful blog about big cats, Of Cats. Omer is also the Daddy of those lovely cats at ...purrrrs..., Snow, Leo and Fairy. He is taking a bit of time off from blogging to take a big exam. Wish him luck, though I'm sure he is clever enough not to need it:)

Thank you so much guys, I feel so honoured! The I Love Your Cats Award was designed by the talented lady at Purr Prints and her blog and Etsy shop are well worth checking out if you haven't done so already.

I can't think who to nominate for these two awards as I think most of you have received them already (and anyhoo I'd like to nominate evfurryone in the CB plus several others!) but I will nominate the following buddies and if you've already received them, well then, you obviously deserve them doubly, triply, or whatever:)

William
Anita
Standtall (The Activist)
Angel and Taz. Their Mama is due to have her MRI scan today at noon CST. She had to go through hoops to get this appointment and has had a very long wait. I do hope it will show up what's wrong and the doctors can make her all better.
The Kracker Cat Blog.
Tom and Sen-Chan
Jeter Harris
Dr. Tweety and da Fab Five.

I don't know what the rules are for either of these awards, but who obeys rules anyhoo, haha!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday:)

Tattle Tail Tuesday

Bozo here. Lots (well, some) cats have asked Maomiew why, when she loves cats so much, she is slave only to an imaginary cat (moi!). Well, she says it's because she wants the house to be cat-safe and cat-friendly first.
Does this look cat-safe and cat-friendly?

No?

And what is she doing about it?

Bug*** all as far as I can see!

Maomiew: Oh Bozo, did you have to?

Bozo: What?

Update:

Silly Maomiew, you uploaded the wrong photo, it should have been this one with my gorgeous self sitting on the trolley you eats your fuds off. BTW, you might like to use a plate now and then!

Maomiew: Nothing to do with me Bozo, this is your post - much against my better judgment!

Bozo: But you're supposed to help me!

M: Nope, not me, specially when you're dissing me!

B: Oh. What is an "imaginary cat" anyhoo?

End of Update.

Luv,

Sad and Scary Sunday

Thank you so much to evfurrybody who wished me good luck and crossed their paws for my neurologist's appointment. I was very touched. Here is the story.

Well off we went in Pinky's car to the Neurological Department on Sunday, at what was sparrow fart for us (9 a.m.). We are NOT morning people. Pinky is better than I am, but neither of us are at our best before midday. I've been unsteady on my feet for some time but Sunday...! Well, I could barely walk! I think it was a combination of too little sleep and nerves.

Anyway, the blurb that came with the appointment letter warned that there is restricted-time parking near the hospital and we might be there a long time, so my lovely cousin H, who lives about ten minutes away from the hospital, had offered to let us park at her house and drive us the rest of the way. Her car is a 4x4, which she needs to get to where her horse is stabled at the end of a rough unpaved road and you would have laughed out loud to see me getting into it in my wobbly state (the car that is, not the stable)!

After growing roots in the waiting room, Pinky had just gone off to get us some coffee when I was called. It was okay though, the nurse said he could come in with the coffee when he got back! They obviously recognise people's need for coffee there!

The neurologist turned out to be very nice. He asked me a lot questions which taxed my memory no end and he tested my reflexes. The worst thing was having to stand upright with my feet together and my eyes shut! I nearly went tits up but managed to stay roughly vertical, hee hee!

After this he told me that the "blobs" could be due to a number of causes (all of which sound rather scary but some more than others) and that he would send me an appointment to come back and have another scan or scans and a lumbar puncture! He said that I may have heard that lumbar punctures are painful but not to be scared. People who have suffered pain during the procedure have usually had it carried out by a doctor who doesn't do them very often, but here they do them every day and are very experienced so the procedure is usually painless.

My cousin picked us up and as it was a lovely, sunny day we sat in her garden with coffee and biscuits (cookies).

The first thing I did on getting home was to turn on the computer and go straight to Daisy's blog to cheer myself up with her Sunday Comic, only to find the news about darling Pixie...

In other news, the only shares I have are in guess what, HBOS. I'm not really a shares sort of person, but they were kind of a "bonus" to Leeds investors when the Halifax (now HBOS since it merged with the Bank of Scotland) took over the Leeds. There was no option to have this "bonus" put into one's savings account as a cash deposit and through inertia I've never done anything with the shares! I really can't understand why all these banks in the U.S., U.K. and other countries were stupid enough to grant mortgages to people who wouldn't be able to pay. One would have thought they would have at least done some sort of investigation into people's ability to pay. But what would I know, I'm just a dumb old broad, haha! Anyway, it seems that HBOS is to merge with, or be taken over by, Lloyds TSB, which will make them the biggest bank in the U.K.

Friday Follies

Painting by numbers

I like doing crosswords and puzzles and I came across a "one for the kids" at the end of a puzzle magazine. Well, I'm a big kid at heart but couldn't be bothered to see if I had crayons or felt-tips to fill it in by by hand, so, as I felt a bit bleh last night and didn't feel up to doing anything useful, I scanned it into the computer and started colouring it in last night while watching American Beauty on the telly.

Well, an interesting concept was expressed in that film which really resonated with me because it's an idea I've had for as long as I can remember.

I go to the Sussex Eye Hospital from time to time to have checks on my squint. They get lots of child patients so the place has lots of toys. This is my favourite:

He reminds me of Dr. Tweety and Maximilian. I always give him a cuddle if I'm seen in the room where he lives and one day I dropped him. Quite unthinkingly I said, "Oh, sorry!" as I picked him up and stroked off any dust which might have got in his furs. "Don't be so silly", said Pinky, rather irritably, "It's an inanimate object!"

The idea referred to in the film American Beauty is that life permeates everything in some form or other, even "inanimate" objects. It's not something I've mentioned to many people as I think they might call those people in the white coats to come and take me away. However, the only reader of this blog who knows my address is Pinky (as far as I know) and he already knows I'm bonkers, so hopefully I'm not in too much danger of finding myself in a straight jacket, lol!

In other news, I'm sorry I just don't seem to be able to visit everyone regularly. I think it's coz I love you all and there are so many! I now have 224 feeds in my Blogroll and am adding all the time, so with the best will in the world I can't get round evfurryone every day. Wish I could:(

In further other news, I'm amazed to find it's my first blogoversary on Saturday. It seems like only a couple of months ago when I started this blog! Time goes so fast it's frightening!

In other further other news, I'm going to the Neurology Department on Sunday (yes, Sunday would you believe!) to see if they can find out what the blobs in my brain are, so please keep your paws crossed for me!

I hope you all have a fab weekend:)

Lighting a Candle for Roscoe

Roscoe is very sick and Opus and all their family are very worried. There's an update on their blog and Sassy is also keeping us informed as Opus and Roscoe's Mom is busy taking care of Roscoe and making sure Opus doesn't feel left out. I'm sure they will appreciate a comment wishing Roscoe well. Roscoe is seeing the vet again today so let's keep all our paws, fingers and toes crossed for him!

Put the Lights On!

Texas is very ill and could use all our purrs and purrayers. This is a very sad and worrying time for his family.

On a lighter note, the weather here on Sunday inspired the following set of doodles. Saturday was bright and sunny all day. Then came Sunday...

No bean or imaginary cat was actually hurt or even fell over in the making of this post.

In other news, I'm very glad that Gustav turned out much less aggressive than feared.

As Empress Bee would say, I hope the rest of evfurryone's week is tits (not tits up, haha!).
