It's been very muggy here this week and I fancied a nice, cold beer, so while at my local corner shop I purchased a beer I like which comes in a screw-top bottle, so if you don't drink it all in one go (who am I trying to kid?!) you can put the cap back on and it won't go flat. When I tried to open it, I couldn't, despite bottle-opening tools, wrapping a towel round it and trying my only pair of pliers, which, alas, were too small. So then I got a bradawl and hammer and punched some holes in the lid. Before I did this I dropped my toolbox (a tin which had once contained a bottle of Glenfiddich and was given to me by my uncle complete with the tools that live in it). It is now horribly dented and I can't get the lid on. Doh. Anyway, lots of beer foamed out through the holes I'd made in the lid and went all over the kitchen floor. After some bad words I got about one and a half small glasses out of what remained in the bottle.
The next day I bought another bottle. Once again I couldn't get the lid off. "Someone is having a laugh" I said to no one in particular (there being nocat here but me and Bozo, who lives in my head). "They must have superglued the lids on, probably some discontented and low-paid worker in the warehouse or somewhere". Before I could resort to the bradawl and hammer strategy again (and this time I had planned on having a glass handy to catch the foam) the bottle broke and the entire contents plus a squillion shards of glass went all over the kitchen floor, leaving just the top of the bottle, complete with lid, in my hand!
The next day I took my camera down to the corner shop and showed the owner this photo. Very reluctantly he gave me one replacement bottle although he knew I had lost most of the contents of the first bottle and the whole of the second. I know it wasn't his fault, but you know, "fit for purpose" and all that. I was a bit peeved. I spend a lot of money in that shop and I mean a lot because it's difficult for me to shop further afield. I got him to unscrew the lid of the new bottle for me and guess what? Yes, it came undone easy peasy. Double doh!
No wonder people get "beer bellies" by the way. After much mopping up etc. my kitchen floor is still very sticky. There must be tons of sugar in that beer!

With many thanks to Ann of Zoolatry for allowing me to "steal" some lion cut photos from Maggy and Zoey's blog on which to base Bozo's cut.
Oh noes, I've just found out that Ann's computer has spat out and lost masses of her images and artwork. Please go and offer her sympathy, she is really hurting.
In other news, RaShell at Doodlage has started a cool new doodle competition and Claire at Doodle Week has posted a template which you can use for it! The prize which RaShell is offering is great!
Finally for the moment, the lovely Abby tagged me for a meme a few days ago. I will do it soon Abby, I just need to pick the best quirks out of many!
Have a fantastic Friday efurrycat:)
