Oh No! Why?

How come the £ has gone so low against the $ when it was the American banks who started the "Credit Crunch", which turned into the "Economic Downturn", which has now, or is apparently about to be, a full-blown "Recession", with their "Toxic Loans"? This seems so unfair! My Mericky friends, please don't take this personally, I'd have to go a long way to find a better bunch of cats and beans outside of the Cat Blogosphere, other, of course, than also all the wonderful cat-loving nationalities in there that I'm honoured to count as friends. Um, does this make sense? Probably not; I just hope you know what I mean.

Well, the British banks also jumped on the bandwagon and lent far too much... blah, blah, blah... We all know the mistakes the banks in many countries of the world have made. Only last year (and in many previous years) I was aghast at how much profit my bank, for just one, declared! I wondered, "Why is some of this money not being channelled into better benefits for their savers?" So where have all these billions of profits gone? Where??? Why, then, did the bank who had bought my bank out (as an apparently thriving concern) need to be bailed out to the tune of millions by the British Government? A bank whom, I must say, is "owned" by a country in the British Isles who wants to be independent...

Just wondering...

Luvya! ('cepting you banks!)

Um, I don't know, but it sure is one royal mess, isn't it. Speaking of royal, I think long long long before I rescued my mom she may have worked for the American division of the bank I think you mean. But that was eons ago.

Yep the current financial crisis has hit many countries in the world and I still cannot fully comprehend how it developed all of a sudden and at such a wide scale.

Hope all is going well. Sending purrs and hugs from me and the kitties..

Proving that the idiots in power can bring down everyone... we can hope that this turns around in about a year and half... sigh.

I don't understand any of it either so will be watching The Ascent of Money Ch4 @ 8.00 pm tonight. It might help :-). My kids ask why can't the banks print more money if they have run out? Ummmm!

It is very confusing! I wish I could invent a money tree.

It is all quite scary really, how this can happen.

GG - thanks for drawing my attention to the programme! I've put it to record so I don't miss it while watching Eastenders. I think your kids are on the money (oh, I crack myself up). Apparently this is exactly what's happening according to those in the know (my Dad) coz the "real" money has (mysteriously) disappeared (prolly into the wallets of some high-flyer, greedy bankers...). :) xxx

I think there should be a bailout plan for people and cats who live together.

1.5 million dollars per household, or 1 million pounds.

Did I figure that right?

Or was that yesterday?

I like the distraught artwork, by the way.

Yup!! It's all a big mess!! Our banks are not allowed to do what our neighbours(USA) did. Sadly, they are our largest trading partner. If they go down the tubes,we will follow!!! :sigh:
Oh dear,I need Temptations to munch and forget these troubles!!

Don't worry, we don't hold it against you. We're just as POd at the banks that made bad loans and the government having to bail them out. What is the point of having "oversight" commitees if they aren't watching anything??? Nuts.

The green paper cruch has put a big damper on our happy holiday season, not just cause we aren't spending much, but cause the media makes it sound like we should all be jumping off of bridges! Not cool

Honestly I have to agree with you! What a bunch of nutters we've all got running the Banks... Even I understand that if you can't afford the posh cat food, you have to eat the budget stuff! I mean why buy the cat food you desire at £10 a pop on credit and wind up having to pay £.20 for the privilege, if you can't afford the £10 to start with how will you ever be able to pay off the £.20 on top of it?! Just stick to the cat food you can afford out of your allowance and stick the rest in savings and then one day you'll be able to avoid the good stuff without any need to pay someone a percentage for doing so!

Mmmm... once I've finished my Daddy training in 10 easy steps I think I may well turn my paws to financial advice! ;)

Purrs,
Ramses

You know, I have wondered where you go since you did not stop by for T-13 but if you having computer problems I guess that explain.

I do not know about banks as I only make nough money each year to buy my furriend Tony a Kissy Mouse present. However, I think you should bank at Bank of Catatonia. Best place to bank. Even if you only have $3.00.

I am not liking the current financial crisis at all. I wish everything would go back to normal. Fingers crossed things get better - until then we've got to make some smart financial choices!

Oh dear, it all sounds very terrible even though I do no understand a word of it. Do you think it's mine fault for making the marnies disappear because I like to play with mine Mummy's change and many times I makes them disappear!

Oh my, you look very upset, and with good reason! :-/

Well, iffen the peoples would be content like kitties an' wouldn't go try to get money from the banks jus' to have more stuff, then the banks wouldn't have problems and neither would the countries! Kitties are smart. They don't borrow nothin'. They jus' accept life as it is.

Yep it is a mess. They was more worried about making money in goofy ways than running a bank properly.

Hi Black Cat

No, we're not cecilia.awesome28. In fact, Mom says she doesn't even know what Skype is! So it wasn't us. We only leave comments on blogs, or if we know the personal email and want to write something more "private" we email the blog owner.
